The publication goes on to say that <strong>GENIUS Act<\/strong>, signed by the current US president, has kept the US at the forefront of the global cryptocurrency market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thanks to President Trump, America is the CRYPTO CAPITAL of the WORLD! \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\udf0e <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HF58GHXqhl\">pic.twitter.com\/HF58GHXqhl<\/a><\/p>- The White House (@WhiteHouse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhiteHouse\/status\/2015091975498993933?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The publication reinforces the United States' interest in maintaining the <strong>support from the crypto sector<\/strong>, both by <strong>economic reasons and political calculations<\/strong>. For investors, this is positive, as it indicates that the segment has now gained enough weight to influence government decisions, albeit partially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"governo-biden-e-a-perseguicao-ao-mercado-cripto\">The Biden administration and the persecution of the crypto market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the beginning of the Biden administration, a significant part of the crypto community has accused the government of adopting a hostile stance towards the sector. And the attacks have come from different fronts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of last year, Republicans in the House of Representatives presented a report on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2025\/dec\/30\/house-report-details-biden-administrations-debanking-crusade-crypto\/\">wave of de-bankarization<\/a> against the cryptocurrency industry under the previous administration, using federal regulators to <strong>pressuring banks to cut ties with companies and users of digital assets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were dozens of \u201c<em>pause letters<\/em>\u201d sent by the FDIC between March 2022 and May 2023 to regulated banks, instructing them to \u201cpause or not expand crypto-related activities\u201d and to provide additional information before moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These letters only came to light in response to requests under the Freedom of Information Act, similar to the Access to Information Act we have in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"o-que-e-o-genius-act-e-por-que-ele-importa\">What the GENIUS Act is and why it matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The GENIUS Act emerges in this discourse as a symbol of this change in attitude. The proposal regulates stablecoins in the United States and authorizes payments with these digital assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the law was passed, Senator Bill Hagerty used the same term as the White House in X, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenatorHagerty\/status\/1935086090869731470\">writing<\/a> that \u201cwith GENIUS, the United States is one step closer to becoming the cryptocurrency capital of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project requires stablecoins to have <strong>cash reserves or short-term US securities<\/strong>, and the monthly publication of reserves in a transparent manner, with <strong>regular audit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also bans algorithmic stablecoins and restricts \u201c<em>rehypothecation<\/em>\u201d (using the same reserve several times) and mixing the reserves with the company's cash. For some, the measures announced are insufficient given the scale of the problems facing the sector in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the recurring requests is for a <strong>tax reform<\/strong>. Critics argue that the current tax regime on cryptocurrencies remains onerous and uncompetitive compared to other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Pierre Rochard, CEO of The Bitcoin Bond Company, the policy of taxing bitcoin is terrible and drives wealthy investors to other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cBTC is not taxed in Dubai, El Salvador, Thailand, Puerto Rico, Singapore and Germany (after holding for 1 year). There is no excuse for Bitcoin to be taxed in the United States. It's a terrible policy that undermines Trump's Bitcoin superpower agenda. We cannot accept it\u201d, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BitcoinPierre\/status\/2015104433089114209\">tweeted<\/a> the entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Another sensitive issue involves <strong>presidential pardons<\/strong>.
