The company Utexo has just received US$ 7.5 million in investments from Tether, Big Brain and other major investors in the cryptoasset market.
The movement, unnoticed by the mainstream media, could turn Bitcoin into the largest transmitter of digitized dollars on the planet.
Utexo builds payment infrastructure on the Lightning Network (LN), a payment solution built on top of Bitcoin. With LN, you can make cheap, secure and private transactions.
The technology used by Utexo, called RGB, makes it possible to place the USDT (digital dollar) in Bitcoin through Lightning. The company offers this technology to other businesses in a Business to Business (B2B) model.
Currently, the Ethereum and Tron networks correspond to more than 80% of the volume of USDT transacted on blockchains. Data from Tether, the creator of USDT, reveals that the digital asset already exceeds the dollar transactions of Visa and Mastercard combined.
If Utexo's plan works out, we could see part of the Ethereum and Tron volume migrating to the Bitcoin infrastructure.
Users of Utexo's services will have certain advantages over users of common blockchains such as Ethereum, Ton and Tron.
The first advantage for financial sovereignty is privacy. Transactions are private and ephemeral, in the sense that they only take place between the parties and there is no eternal record of transactions, as is the case with ordinary blockchains.
Another point that stands out is the cheaper fees, all of which are paid in dollars using RGB technology, allowing for high stability without price increases according to demand, as is the case with blockchains.
Finally, the private keys are not shared with Utexo, guaranteeing the sovereignty and ownership of the digital asset.
“Utexo provides a built-in growth cycle: wallets increase their user base, while USDT drives adoption in Bitcoin. The divorce between the two most important digital assets is finally over. After more than a decade, we're bringing USDT back home.” - said Viktor Ihnatiuk, co-founder of Utexo.
